Chris Hess.

We measure what the eye cannot see, and explain it in language a quarterback can use the same afternoon.

Chris Hess started Biometrek in 2019 and has measured the functional movement and throwing motions of NFL and elite collegiate quarterbacks with mobile markerless 3D motion capture ever since. His training is that measurement, done at scale, alongside coursework from the Titleist Performance Institute, OnBaseU, Driveline, RacquetFit and ASMI, and the teachings of Tom House.

The work started in the spring of 2020, when a small group of NFL quarterbacks allowed us to capture their off-season throwing sessions in Southern California. We do not name the athletes we work with.

Every assessment is built on one idea: an efficient thrower is consistent, commands the ball, and produces his velocity with the least effort. Each of those has its own measures and its own signature in the data. Good coaches working from the eye or a single camera find the major inefficiencies. What they usually miss are the compensations a good athlete uses to cover them, and that is where Biometrek's work lives.

Efficiency is the lens, not the goal. Effectiveness comes first: the ball arriving where it should, when it should. Biometrek never trades effectiveness for efficiency, and it never dulls an athlete’s superpower to tidy up a weakness. The work is to find the most efficient version of the throw he already has.

Biometrek is a specialist in the throwing mechanics of quarterbacks and pitchers, and nothing else. We do not coach reads or decisions, do not write strength programs, and do not treat injuries. When a finding points to a physical limit or a risk, it is flagged and referred to the athlete's own medical and performance staff. We sell one thing: expert measurement and analysis, delivered as a service.
